SaunaSpeak is made and run by Aleksis Vējš, an independent developer in the EU. It teaches puhekieli first, with written Finnish beside the spoken sentence as a reference.
Published lessons contain fixed Finnish sentences, English meanings, written forms and word-by-word notes. The same course material appears in the public lessons and the learning app. It is not generated anew when you open a lesson.
Finnish varies by speaker and situation. Meaning notes belong to their sentence; a spoken form is not always a replacement for every occurrence of a written word. If a lesson sounds wrong, send the exact sentence and its lesson link to mail@saunaspeak.com.
Maria Susanna, Finnish language instructor and founder of Finnish Fluency Lab, has shared an endorsement of SaunaSpeak. Her full words appear on the homepage. An endorsement is not an exam qualification or a promise about an individual learner's progress.
Course audio uses a mix of speech synthesis and native-speaker recordings. Available human recordings take priority; other clips use synthesized Finnish, including ElevenLabs and other TTS providers. A Native voice label identifies a human sentence recording. The mix changes as recordings are added.
AI conversation and sentence feedback are practice tools and can be wrong. Pronunciation assessment, when available, is a practice estimate. These features do not certify your Finnish or replace a teacher's judgement.
The course focuses on everyday spoken Finnish. It is a supplement to real listening and conversation, not a complete YKI preparation course or a guarantee of a CEFR result.
Read the course, find a phrase for an everyday situation or try the free ear test.
