Epämääräisyys: semmonen, sinnepäin, suurin piirtein
Finnish has a whole toolkit for not committing to an exact answer. 'Semmonen' and 'tommonen' mean 'that sort of', 'sinnepäin' means 'or thereabouts', and 'suurin piirtein' means 'roughly'. These are not lazy - they are how a precise-sounding language leaves itself room.
Se makso satasen tai jotain sinnepäin. = It cost a hundred or thereabouts.
Suurin piirtein sama juttu. = Roughly the same thing.
Se oli semmonen vähän outo tyyppi.
He was sort of an odd guy.
